Agnès Van Zanten
Research Director at the Centre National de Recherche Scientifique the (CNRS)

Sociologist and PhD in sociology. Research Director at the Centre National de Recherche Scientifique the (CNRS). She works under the Observatoire du Changement Sociologique, Research Laboratory Sciences Po, associated with the CNRS. She is also director of the Réseau d’Analyse des Politiques Pluridisciplinaire EDUCATIVES (RAPPE) of CNRS, under which organizes seminars and research projects involving French and foreign researchers and young doctoral students. She is a member of the strategic committee of the National Research Agency of France, and director of the collection “Education and Society” at Presses Universitaires de France.

She is also responsible for the thematic network “Sociology of education and training” of the French Association of Sociology and member of the editorial board of several scientific, French and foreign studies. At the same time, she is member of various publishing committees of magazines: Éducation et Sociétés, Educação e Sociedade, European Educational Research Journal, Recherches Sociologiques and Revue Française de Pédagogie. Her main research topics are the construction of inequalities and school segregation, local educational dynamics, education policies, comparing local and national education systems and theories, methods, diffusion and reception of investigations in sociology of education.
