PhD and Bachelor Degree in Medicine and Surgery at the Universidad de Barcelona. He was Innovation Vicerrector at the UB and now is temporary Rector. He is an expert in the investigation of the pathophysiology of neurodegenerative diseases and serves as head of Consolidated Group Pathophysiology of Neurodegenerative Diseases Research UB. He is also a researcher at August Pi i Sunyer Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBAPS in spanish) and President of the Asociación Española de Neurociencias. Throughout his career, he has been a researcher at Georgetown University and Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in the US, as well as at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden.
