Ph.D. Genetic Improvement of Plants, Cornell University, USA, and Agronomist Engineer of Universidad Austral de Chile with majoring in crop production. He has 39 years of experience in INIA, where he has leadering the breeding program of potato with successful results recognized internationally. He has collaborated with countries like the United States, Italy, Brazil, China, Holland, Argentina and Uruguay among others, through agreements between INIA, universities and  research centers of different countries. Also he has been chairman of the Advisory Committee   collaborative of Crop Research Program in the McKnight Foundation in USA, and has been vice-president of the Latin American association of potato. Since 2014 is National Director of INIA.
